EDM: electronic document management
What is it?
EDM, or electronic document management, is the dematerialisation and archiving of your company’s documentation. It thus allows documents to be used in digital format. Documents are handled by the EDM system, from digitization, storage, indexing and distribution, to archiving for shelf life.
Simply scan a paper document – such as an invoice, order form or contract – and then validate it so that it is integrated into the EDM directory in digital format. The scanned documents are then automatically indexed according to predefined criteria. They can be sorted by date, by customer, by reference number, etc.
The documents managed by the EDM are generally accessible from different terminals (computer, smartphone, tablets…). Reading and modifying documents is restricted by user rights to guarantee data security.
